Our services

Non-Center Based Day Support Services provide individualized, community-focused assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities to build daily living, social, and independent living skills. Services are delivered in natural community settings and are designed to promote independence, inclusion, and meaningful participation in everyday activities.

Direct Support Professional (DSP)

Community-Based Day Support Services

Position Summary
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides individualized, community-based support to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities and mental health needs. DSPs assist individuals in developing daily living, social, and vocational skills while promoting independence, dignity, and full community inclusion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver services in accordance with each individual’s ISP and person-centered goals.

  • Support skill development related to daily living, social interaction, self-advocacy, and community engagement.

  • Assist individuals with transportation to appointments, employment supports, volunteer activities, and recreational outings.

  • Encourage independence and informed choice in daily routines and decision-making.

  • Provide emotional support and utilize positive behavior support strategies as needed.

  • Maintain timely, accurate documentation (daily notes, mileage logs, incident reports).

  • Follow DBHDS regulations, agency policies, and safety procedures.

  • Communicate professionally with supervisors, families, and interdisciplinary team members.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Experience with IDD and/or mental health populations preferred (training provided).

  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and acceptable driving record.

  • Ability to pass background checks and required screenings.

  • CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
